Job Description

Board of Directors Purpose:

  • Quoted from the Bylaws: “General management of the club’s affairs shall be entrusted to the board of directors.”

  • The Officers and Board of Directors are the fiduciaries who provide stewardship of the Club and manage Club affairs in a sound, ethical, and legal manner.

  • Ensure prudent use of all assets, including finances, members, facility, and public good will.

  • Make decisions that are in the best interest of the Club.

  • Ensure that the Club, in its activities and transactions, obeys applicable laws and regulations; follows its own bylaws; and adheres to its stated mission.

  • Report to the general membership in a timely manner.

Board of Directors: There will be 5 members of the Board of Directors.

Individual Board member responsibilities:

  • Be informed about and be an advocate for the Club’s mission, policies, and programs.

  • Attend all Board and General meetings if possible. Notify Board of necessary absences.

  • Review agenda, if available, prior to Board meetings.

  • Attend Club events if possible.

  • Serve on a committee(s) if possible

  • Assist the Board in carrying out its fiduciary responsibilities, such as reviewing the Club’s financial statements, the annual internal audit, and setting an annual budget.

  • Follow any conflict-of-interest and confidentiality policies.

  • Suggest possible future nominees to the Board who can make significant contributions to the work of the Board and the Club.

  • Note: Officers and Board members are automatically part of the Show committee.

Be open to club members ideas, complaints, etc. and bring any issues to the other Officers and Board members, usually in the Board meetings.
